Electroforming is the delicate process in which copper is 'formed' onto another material. Unlike metal plating where a smooth surface is achieved, electroforming is a process where copper organically "grows" onto another object through the process of electrolysis. Both a copper coil and a conductive piece (the eventual pendant) are placed together into an acidic bath, connected to an electrical source, and left alone for magic to happen. The electroforming process can take anywhere from 4-12 hours, depending on the desired outcome. This is why we like to say that the process is technically science, but a little bit of magic, too!
After the electroforming process, each piece is quality inspected and polished. All copper pieces are then aged through a patina process; and polished once more before being cleaned with soap and water, sealed with Rennaissance wax, and strung onto a handmade, vegan suede cord.
